The girl flew from her native Dushanbe to St. Petersburg for a spinal surgery.

The surgery was successful. The surgeons eliminated one of the problems that tormented the girl and caused severe back pain.

Asmoa wears a special corset that supports the spine during the post-operative recovery period. Her health has improved significantly, the girl has become more cheerful and almost does not remember how her back hurt before the surgery.

The girl has a corset correction, specialist consultations and, possibly, another surgery ahead. Not all spinal problems could be corrected with one surgery.

Help pay for tickets to St. Petersburg for Asmoa – the girl needs to fly for spinal surgery

Asmoa was born with multiple spinal malformations. By the age of four, she had developed such a severe curvature that her neck was almost absent and her back resembled a hemisphere.

Due to the twisted position of the body, the internal organs, which were compressed and pressed against each other in an unnatural way, suffer greatly. This increases the risk of internal inflammatory processes.

Further curvature can be stopped by surgery with the installation of plates that hold the vertebrae in an anatomically correct position.

Asmoa is from Tajikistan. There, surgeons do not undertake such an operation. In Russia, high-tech medical care is paid for by foreigners.

For the operation, the girl needs tickets to St. Petersburg and back.
