Pediatric cancer has a serious impact not only on the child, but also on the entire family. Returning home after chemotherapy becomes a new challenge for many families. From April 12-14, our warm family shift, Cuddle Weekend, was held at Aura Ecopark. The program gives an opportunity to families whose child has been through cancer to spend time together, filled with interesting activities, fun games, in a circle of understanding and supportive people.
Volunteers surround families with care, support, create a safe space for creativity and challenge, play board games, and more. Before meeting with families, we provide training, teach what they need to know and be able to do on the shift, and pay for transportation, lodging and meals at the site.
“Cuddle Weekend is 'Disneyland' where you can be anyone and take as much or as little as you need.” Thank you for being a part of this event!
