Over 500 people live in the Volgograd Nursing Home. Alexey Viktorovich is among them. He is not yet 50 years old. He worked as a driver, liked to go fishing and pick mushrooms. And then - the trouble: a fracture of the cervical spine c6-c7 with spinal cord compression.
One hand remained movable only. In this condition, Alexei in 2017 ended up in a nursing home. With one moving hand he began his recovery. Much exercise first. The work was then forced by specialists: neurologist, masseur, psychologist. Alexey became able to sit in a wheelchair, and then move around on his own. He became able to start visiting the gym.
A year ago he was bedridden completely. Only his persistence and desire to recover helped him. Now he already sits and rides on his own in a wheelchair. During the coronavirus period, he persistently does breathing exercises.
"Having achieved such results, it would be a shame to die of coronavirus," he said.
Alexey has a great desire to move forward. But there is not enough rehabilitation means to restore motor functions.
Dynamic PD-180 parapodium is a variant of leg and back orthosis, which would help to restore motor functions not only for Alexey, but also for other residents of Volgograd nursing home for the elderly and disabled. Unfortunately, by law it cannot be purchased at the expense of the institution's budget. The Social Insurance Fund of Russia compensates the disabled of the Volgograd region for the purchase of orthoses - but only 55 thousand rubles out of 182 thousand needed to buy the parapodium and its fixers.
You can help Alexei and his neighbors in the boarding school.
