An incurable diagnosis - epidermolysis bullosa - makes Volodya's life very difficult. Due to his illness, the top layer of his skin is weakly connected to the deeper layers, so any awkward touch can result in injury for Volodya. Every day, the mother makes dressings for her son, which are like a second skin for Volodya: they protect against the appearance of new wounds and help heal existing ones.
Bandaging for epidermolysis bullosa is a whole art, many layers of atraumatic bandages, special sponge and silicone pads and soft special bandages that are used for severe burns. You also need special ointments and creams for skin care. All these are expensive high-tech medical products, but only they can protect Volodya’s skin from injury, and he needs dressings every day.
“Today I know that even with such a serious illness it is quite possible to provide a child with a full life,” says Volodya’s mother. “You just need to carefully monitor your skin and care for it properly.”
