Families with seriously ill children are under constant stress and anxiety. Parents are forced to completely change their way of life: the mother has to give up her career in favor of caring for the child, and the father, on the contrary, has to work hard to provide for the family. On the other hand, children need to accept their diagnosis and the limitations and rules associated with it (diet, medications, procedures, rehabilitation).
This is often exacerbated by a lack of understanding between family members, resentment and the development of conflicts. All of this has a direct impact on the child: an unstable emotional state, psychological stress in the family makes treatment or rehabilitation difficult.
This is why the AiF. Kind Heart Foundation launched a project to provide psychological support for the entire family. And it has proven to be very popular! Since the beginning of the year, our psychologists have helped 24 families and conducted 141 consultations.
The mother of one of the foundation's beneficiaries asked for help in establishing contact with her teenage daughter. She was very worried about her daughter who did not want to take the necessary medications. During consultations, the psychologist told the mother about the peculiarities of the child and adolescent psyche, supported positive changes in the girl's behavior, and helped build trust in the family.
Usually during the 2-2.5 months of support to the family, psychologists conducted 20 consultations. Every family has the right to assistance and compassion in difficult situations. Thanks to your support, we will be able to help even more families with a seriously ill child to strengthen relationships and create a positive environment for better health.
