Makar is 8 years old and has cerebral palsy with spastic tetraparesis. He was diagnosed at the age of one. Spasticity interferes not only with movement but also with speech—his facial and tongue muscles are constantly tense, making it very difficult for Makar to speak.
Currently, he can say a few words: 'mama,' 'papa,' and 'baba.' But for his speech to develop further, he needs regular sessions with a speech therapist and speech therapy massage—these help relieve tension in the articulatory muscles and prepare his speech apparatus for new sounds.
Makar needs: sessions with a speech therapist, speech therapy massage, and exercises to develop fine motor skills.
Without regular sessions, spasticity increases and progress is lost. The family is doing everything they can, but the sessions require funding. Let’s help Makar maintain what he has achieved and give him a chance to speak more and more clearly.
