Integration Year

Integration Year

The second of TOOBA's Full Time Certificate Programs, Integration Year will interest you if:

  • you have a solid grounding in theatre performance (a BFA or equivalent experience), and are wanting to branch further into Physical Theatre, ensemble creation, or original work.
  • you want a program geared to your individual development as an artist.
  • you want to earn TOOBA's Diploma of Physical Theatre Arts.

Integration Year offers an intense program of study to allow participants the chance to deepen and polish physical theatre performance skills. Though Integration Year has the highest number of class hours per week, some classes are shared with Foundation Year or Advanced students, and some classes are open to community members serious about training. This allows for both an experience of ensemble, and an inclusive experience of learning.

TOOBA is accepting applications for the 2008-2009 Integration Year.

Next year's schedule runs:

1st Term: September - December 2008
2nd Term: January - April 2009. (There is a one week Spring Break in February)

Classes run Monday to Thursday, providing time for rehearsing and other activities.

Integration Year students also have the opportunity to be placed as interns with Vancouver's leading professional theatre, dance and performing arts companies. Students work with the host organization on a weekly basis during the school semester or more intensively on specific productions, projects or events that add up to a minimum of thirty hours of internship.
